Your working document

One segment. One account. Clear next steps.

Worksheet contents stay in your browser and in files you choose to download. The site uses its normal analytics; this tool does not submit your entries.

1 Define your market

These are requirements you set, not facts the tool discovers. Replace vague labels such as “successful brand” with conditions you can check.

Applying a preset replaces market rules and clears sample evidence. It keeps your offer notes.

Start with your own rules or apply an illustrative preset.

Name the merchants you can serve, not the service you sell.
Role names only. No personal contact details are needed.
Write a requirement even if the sample account is still unverified.
Include customer and opportunity checks as well as companies you cannot serve.
2 Write the offer you can approve

Name the result, relevant proof, and a useful first step. Record whether that value is delivered before, on, or after a call.

Use an outcome your team can deliver. Leave unverified numbers out.
Identify an approved case study or evidence source. If you have none, record that gap.
Describe the actual deliverable, not just “a chat.”

The Cold Offer Test

Review these questions yourself or with your client. The tool does not approve your offer.

Approval is recorded only after the offer fields and all four checks are complete.
3 Check one sample account

Use an account you have researched. No company lookup happens here. Unknown information stays unknown.

Enter a name or domain to review an account.
For example: store pages, technical documentation, and your CRM. Link or identify sources in each observation when they differ.
Only http or https links. Source text is exported, not opened or verified.

Must-have rule 1

Write must-have rule 1 above.

Use a fact or quote and identify its source. Keep an assumption labeled as unknown.

Must-have rule 2

Write must-have rule 2 above.

Use a fact or quote and identify its source. Keep an assumption labeled as unknown.

Must-have rule 3

Write must-have rule 3 above.

Use a fact or quote and identify its source. Keep an assumption labeled as unknown.
Record the exclusion source and result, then select the review outcome. Do not include personal information.
4 Connect an event to the problem

Fit tells you whether an account belongs in the market. A sourced event can help explain why the problem could matter now. Keep the observation and your hypothesis separate.

Choose an event that could explain the problem your buyer faces, then document the source and the alternative explanations.

A source publication date is acceptable if the actual event date is unknown; say so in the observation.
Keep the date you checked the source separate from when the event happened.
Record the factual event. A role being open does not prove a budget for your service.
Identify the dated announcement, job posting, or other evidence. A source is recorded, not fetched.
Write the connection as a hypothesis. Funding alone does not confirm pain or purchase intent.
Name a competing explanation or a question you need answered.

You can export an incomplete draft. Missing evidence will be labeled in the review. Nothing is sourced or sent on your behalf.

How to use the Market Map

Build the market before you build the list.

  1. Pick a segment your team can serve. An agency, app vendor, and fulfillment provider will have different operational requirements.
  2. Write the include and exclude rules. Keep current customers, open deals, partners, and suppressed accounts out of the relevant acquisition campaign.
  3. Test a sample account against evidence. Store platform and installed tools can help establish fit. Do not substitute estimates for confirmed revenue or assume a tool is absent because it was not detected.
  4. Find a meaningful event. Hiring, funding, new leadership, launches, expansion, and technology changes are starting points for research. Record where and when the event was observed.
  5. Explain the problem connection. A new operations role might relate to a workflow your product handles. It could also have another purpose. Keep that hypothesis and its counter-evidence visible.
  6. Approve the offer and export the map. The useful first step, supporting proof, and delivery timing must match what your team actually provides.

For the wider sourcing method, read the ecommerce lead database guide. For turning approved segments into outreach, see cold email for ecommerce agencies.

What does a useful event look like?

These are illustrative research scenarios, not real account findings or client results.

Your businessEvent to documentProblem to investigate
Shopify development agencyA new ecommerce leader announces a regional storefront launch.Do localization and integration requirements fit your team? Who owns implementation?
CRO or lifecycle agencyA growth or retention job posting names a specific conversion or lifecycle responsibility. What initiative is the role expected to deliver? Is outside support relevant, or is delivery already covered?
Shopify app vendorA merchant launches a product line that introduces a workflow your app supports.Does that workflow exist in the merchant's operation, and are the required integrations supported?
3PL / fulfillment providerA brand announces expansion into a shipping region you cover. Are the shipping profile, handling requirements, capacity, and timing compatible with your network?

One account and one event do not establish a predictive model. Start with evidence, check alternative explanations, and validate the need with the buyer.

What do you keep?

  • A CSV worksheet: segment rules, offer review, sample account evidence, exclusions, event source and date, problem hypothesis, and next research actions. Add more rows using the same columns.
  • A Markdown brief: a readable record for a founder, client approver, or campaign operator.
  • Your own decisions: the tool marks missing evidence and unmet criteria. It does not source leads, approve a campaign, or turn a hiring announcement into confirmed buying intent.

The worksheet does not contain a contact list. Keep personal contact data in your existing approved systems.

Market Map questions

Is a Market Map the same as a lead list?

The map defines which accounts belong, why they fit, which should be excluded, and what needs verification. A sourced lead list is a later output. This free tool helps define and test the rules.

Does the tool find Shopify stores or decision makers?

No. You enter a sample business and the evidence you have found. The builder organizes those entries and creates your worksheet. No data provider or contact lookup runs in the tool.

Does “meets the fit rules” mean they are ready to buy?

No. Account fit, a recent event, a confirmed problem, and a buying decision are different things. A qualified fit review should still leave intent and unanswered questions visible.

Can I use this with a client?

Yes. Edit the starting rules, complete the review with your client, and share the exported file. Approval is recorded by you. Cite “Snipe Outbound, Ecommerce Market Map Builder” and link to this page when sharing the framework publicly.

Is my worksheet saved?

It stays in memory in your browser tab. Download it to keep a copy; refreshing or closing the page clears it. The tool does not send the form contents to Snipe. Normal site analytics and your consent choices still apply.
